Alpha Autism backs Salesforce's Chatter

In the demand for a social collaboration platform within enterprise

A Melbourne-based not-for-profit organisation has backed Salesforce's new cloud-based social networking platform, Chatter.

Alpha Autism (AA), which supports adults who have an autism spectrum disorder, was one of the 100 organisations to receive the beta version of the Chatter software in February this year.

It implemented the software in its fundraising sector in the aim of fostering relationships with volunteers and assisting with productivity in the workplace.

Community relations and fundraising coordinator at Alpha Austism, Wojciech Nadachowski, said Chatter is invaluable to the way AA now runs.

Working with similar features to Facebook, Twitter and Google, Chatter enables status updates, profiles, real-time feeds, content and file sharing and access to read-only accounts and contacts.

According to Nadachowski, Chatter allows him to track his volunteers and projects instantly, instead of relying on email correspondence, with the real-time talk, status updates and information sharing.

“It brings about an enormous efficiency, an efficiency that I never dreamed of really," Nadachowski said.

“There’s always pressure on me to reduce costs so when bringing in volunteers and using support from other organisations, you want all that to happen as smoothly as possible and that’s what this really does for us, it makes [the process] really simple.”

Prior to Chatter, AA implemented Salesforce Customer Relations Manager (CRM) in December 2008, with which it slowly began moving data off inhouse servers and into the cloud.

Due to the complexities involved with each patient’s background, Nadachowski said that having one source for all the information is vital when trying to deliver an accurate and helpful service to patients.
