Commercialisation Australia to receive $2.2m in funding

Funding will support innovative ideas and their transformation to commerical projects

Commercialisation Australia (CA) will receive $2.2 million in support for 11 new projects, following an announcement from Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Minister, Senator Kim Carr.

CA is a Federal Government initiative that assists the transformation of innovative ideas into commercially viable ventures.

The funding, which follows the announcement of $9.6 million of funding in April, will support a range of ideas from around the country.

Ideas include the design for motorcycle safety helmets to reduce the risk of injury, light therapy glasses for the treatment of insomnia, jet lag and depression, a new livestock management system, a faster and more accurate sepsis diagnosis test and an innovative joining system for the manufacturing, building materials and construction industries.

Additionally, applicants will receive the support of a case manager, based throughout Australia, to guide them through the process as well as taking on the role of mentor, providing market experience and knowledge.

In a statement, Senator Carr said the Government’s focus on innovation, knowledge-based industries, and new business growth will be the key to renewing and growing the Australian economy.
