Cabletron consortium wins multi million dollar Adelaide University dealAdelaide University has selected a consortium of companies including Cabletron Systems and Logical Networks to implement a multimillion dollar network and management solution. According to Cabletron officials, the network is to provide IP services to more than 2500 staff and 14,000 students, from more than 7000 network points, and will support the implementation of a PeopleSoft ERP system that is being rolled out concurrently. More than 600km of computer cabling will be replaced over an 18-month period during the rollout, enabling the wide deployment of Gigabit Ethernet and 100MB Ethernet that will result in a ten-fold improvement in the speed of networking communications across four campuses and four teaching hospitals, the officials claimed. Logical Networks will handle the implementation of the network, based on Cabletron's SmartSwitch routers and the Spectrum management system. www.cabletron.com.auE-customers are mostly dissatisfiedA survey of nearly 10,000 online customers found that only 36 per cent are satisfied with their electronic interactions and that more than half of those transactions require a phone call or other off-line action to resolve issues they face, according to a recent report. The study - conducted by e-Satisfy.com on behalf of the International Customer Service Association - also found that online customers generally have higher expectations for customer service than they end up receiving. The survey also found: e-customers expect acknowledgement of their contact within an hour, but only 42 per cent receive confirmations within 24 hours; nearly 40 per cent of customers never get a final response to their e-contact; and poor handling of e-contacts creates 30 to 48 per cent lower customer loyalty, particularly through online chat rooms.www.esatsify.comSAP ends lawsuits against SiebelSAP America has ended two lawsuits it brought against Siebel Systems over the defections of more than 25 SAP employees to the rival business management software vendor. "The parties have mutually agreed to settle the litigation, and the lawsuits were dismissed with prejudice," SAP spokesman Bill Wohl said. He declined further comment and Siebel representatives could not be reached. SAP filed lawsuits against Siebel in November of last year in a Pennsylvania court and in the US District Court in December, 1999, alleging Siebel had engaged in "predatory hiring practices. Over approximately the last year, Siebel has engaged in a systematic effort to injure SAP's business and impede SAP's ability to compete with Siebel in the customer relationship management marketplace," SAP said when the November lawsuit was filed.
