Government departments use their Noggin

Sydney software company expands public sector presence

Six government organisations have signed up to use Organise, Communicate, Act (OCA) incident management software developed by Sydney based software company Noggin.

OCA is used by a range of Australian government agencies at commonwealth and state levels, including South-East Queensland Water Grid, Queensland Health and Ambulance Victoria, with approximately 80 per cent of its business coming from the public sector.

Ambulance Victoria has deployed OCA for logging, reporting, asset tracking and the tactical and strategic coordination of major incidents and events, and was used during the recent Victorian floods.

South-East Queensland Water Grid is using the software to make sure residents have live awareness of water grid emergencies.

OCA is currently in a suitability trial with Queensland Health for the State Health Emergency Coordination Centre (SHECC). The unit is responsible for leadership, strategic service and operational policy development of both disaster preparedness and emergency incident management response capability.

Noggin general manager of projects and services, Charlie Forsyth, said the departments selected OCA because of its implementation flexibility.

"It can be configured around different business processes so that was attractive," he said. "They liked the ease of use and our strong track record in government."

He said South-East Queensland Water Grid trialled the software before rolling it out across its six different companies.

"They're dealing with broken pipes and other emergencies so it's critical that the software works," Forsyth said.
