Australian Parliament House is looking for new routing switches to replace ageing technology used for the broadcast distribution of parliamentary proceedings.
According to tender documents, the routing switchers are the backbone of the broadcasting distribution infrastructure within Parliament, but are outdated. Supporting infrastructure including video and audio distribution amplifiers also need replacing.
Parliament wants to upgrade the technology to aid broadcasting services and enable migration of legacy systems to a digital infrastructure. The current routing switcher is not high definition and non-compliant with Australian television industry standards.
Parliament is looking for a supplier who can improve the reliability of broadcasting services as well as improve broadcast capacity.
The deadline for replies is Monday, 18 October.
IT staff at Parliament House are also expected to unveil a revamp of its website next month, which will see all included content covered under the Creative Commons by attribution (CC-BY) license instead of the Commonwealth Copyright license, allowing for the repurposing of Hansard transcripts and Parliament webcasts for other uses.
