NetComm to supply powerline adaptor to Foxtel

Network equipment vendor NetComm (ASX:NTC) has arranged to supply its 200Mbps powerline adaptors to enable simple connectivity to Foxtel iQ customers

Networking vendor NetComm (ASX:NTC) has signed a supply agreement to provide 200Mbps powerline adaptors to Foxtel customers.

The agreement covers NetComm's new NP204 Powerline Adaptors which will allow Foxtel subscribers to connect their iQ set top boxes to the internet with no configuration required.

The adaptors incorporate the wireless 'N' standard to boost transmission rates, NetComm's general manager Danny Morrison said.

“With an upsurge of internet devices being used in the home, it is important that Australians can experience the benefits of simple... and reliable online networking using their existing infrastructure,” he said.

NetComm launched its first powerline networking product in 2005, Morrison added.

Foxtel iQ is a PVR set top box with an integrated TV guide. It is bundled free with Foxtel IQ packages.

NetComm primarily sells products to telecom carriers. The vendor this month won a deal to provide mobile broadband gateways for Telecom NZ, and in July revealed it had made further inroads into the North American market by signing on Canada's Rogers Communications.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. NTC shares closed yesterday's trading 4.88 per cent higher at $0.215.
