BigAir signs deal with Azzurri Australia

Fixed WiMax network operator BigAir (ASX:BGL) has signed a deal to provide the use of its network for Azzurri Australia's corporate clients

Fixed WiMax operator BigAir (ASX:BGL) has entered into a network sharing partnership with virtual network operator Azzurri Australia.

Under the arrangement, Azzurri will offer WiMax connectivity to its business customers as part of its converged managed services portfolio.

“BigAir provides another service option to complement Azzuri's 'virtual' tool-kit of infrastructure options,” Azzurri Australia managing director, Jon Evans, said.

He added that the agreement would allow Azzurri to install its services in areas where terrestrial connectivity is limited or non-existent.

BigAir operates a network spanning Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.

The company launched its network, built on the fixed WiMax 4G mobile standard, in Melbourne in 2007.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

BigAir in July announced a similar deal to supply services to NTT Australia's enterprise customers.

BGL shares increased 2.78 per cent during Tuesday's trading to $0.185.
