Internet kiosk developer pieNETWORKS (ASX:PIE) has installed the first two terminals for Telstra's (ASX:TLS) trial of its Hotspot Webphone

Internet kiosk distributor pieNETWORKS (ASX:PIE) has commenced the deployment of 50 of its Hotspot Webphones for Telstra (ASX:TLS).

Telstra is trialling pieNETWORKS' joint internet, phone and email kiosks in a four-month Australian market assessment.

The first two terminals being used in the trial have now been installed at Darwin International Airport, and a further 48 Hotspot Webphones will be deployed in more Australian airports in the coming weeks.

Depending on the outcome of the trial, pieNETWORKS and Telstra will then negotiate terms for a large-scale commercial deployment of the kiosks.

Telstra and pieNETWORKS entered negotiations over the deal in March, and agreed to terms in June.

pieNETWORKScompleted a $1 million placement in August.

TLS shares ended Tuesday's trading 3.4 per cent higher at $2.740. PIE shares were unchanged at $0.022.
