EMC announces new storage solutions

In a flurry of announcements storage specialist EMC has released its new wave of storage solutions.

First off the rank is the EMC enterprise control centre Storagescope software; a new addition to the Controlcentre/open edition family of integrated software applications.

EMC said Storagescope provides software aimed at reducing costs associated with the deployment, monitoring and management of heterogenous information storage resources. It is an open application that automates the collection, analysis and reporting of data from all storage elements in an enterprise.

It can also be integrated with and is supported by third-party billing applications, as well system and network management frameworks through industry-standards SNMP, SQL, XML, CLI and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

The solution supports a number of EMC, Compaq and Network Appliance storage systems and will be available within the month. Support for HDS, HP, SUN and IBM storage arrays are planned for future releases.

The company also announced its Controlcentre replication manager software, aimed at simplifying complex replication procedures, such as information recovery, repurposing and life cycle data management.

Operating in combination with replication technologies, EMC and non-EMC solutions in the future, the solution automates virtually every procedure related to data replication. The product is available immediately.

Last off the rank was EMC's WideSky storage management middleware technology, which seeks to address the complex issues of managing a multivendor storage infrastructure.

The vendor said that, through a new access mechanism, the solution masks the underlying complexity of multiple vendors' products, including storage systems, network devices and host storage resources.
