ACS elects new president

The Australian Computer Society has elected a new leadership team for its 16,000 members to take over the reins in January 2002. Victorian branch chair Richard Hogg will replace the current president John Ridge and the new vice president is South Australian branch chair Brenda Aynsley. Hogg has been a member of the ACS for 20 years and during his term as president aims to expand the society's certification programs and build stronger relationships with government at all levels. "I'd like to ensure the ACS has a voice in issues relating to education, particularly in establishing standards for the use and teaching of ICT skills in primary and secondary schools since this is from where our future professionals will be drawn," he said. In the past two years ACS membership has grown 16 per cent per annum. Hogg will assume the presidency until the end of 2003.
