Massive 3D touchscreen puts your monitor to shame

A University has managed to make lectures fun again with a 3D touchscreen theatre.

If there is something a university student can tell you, it's that there is nothing duller than a lecture theatre. However, the University of Groningen in the Netherlands has developed a very interactive way of engaging students in math or computer sciences: a 33 foot 3D touchscreen.

The massive, transparent screen is curved at 135 degreesm and is just over 9 foot high. Not only is it a marvel to look at from any angle, but it can also track up to 100 people touching it at once -- great for a big debate. The screen boasts 1000 LEDs, and 6 Optitrack cameras. And just in case you were thinking of giving it a nice wallpaper, the screen resolution is 4900-by-1700 pixels.

That ought to keep everyone paying attention in class. Just imagine trying to tap out an email on touchscreen this big...

-- Elizabeth Fish now wants this screen as a replacement for her old TV.
