Eagle Boys Pizza has completed a $3 million overhaul of its entire IT infrastructure in order to meet increasing demand for better online services.
The pizza franchise's group marketing executive, Christine Hooper, said the new system plugged a gap between the online ordering system and the Australian-owned company's in-store environment.
“The system has over 20 plug-ins and will run our digital marketing, our territory management, website, payment gateways [and] links in to our in-store [point of sale] systems.”
Eagle Boys chose to deploy Microsoft infrastructure after going to market for the project.
“We did have three of the big players involved," she said.
The project, which Hooper said would normally take two years but ended up taking six months to complete, also included a new payment gateway and the creation of a app for the Windows Phone 7 smartphone platform.
“It’s only version one of it at the moment,” she said. “Customers can view their local store [but nothing else as yet]. We have a phase two and a number of other products coming out shortly.”
The company also has plans for iPhone and Android versions of the apps within the financial year.
The revamp by Eagle Boys comes as the Federal Government last week moved to bring Australia’s e-commerce laws into the 21st century with the introduction of the Electronic Transactions Amendment Bill 2011.
