Clarity to sponsor TM Forum Sydney event

OSS provider Clarity, a subsidiary of Powerlan (ASX:PWR), has agreed to become the exclusive sponsor for the TM Forum's first Sydney Regional Spotlight

Powerlan (ASX:PWR) subsidiary Clarity has revealed it has signed on as the exclusive sponsor of TM Forum's inaugural Sydney Regional Spotlight.

Clarity, which develops support software and systems for telecom operators, said its executive director, Tony Kalcina, will deliver a keynote speech at the event.

Kalcina is also chairman of the TM Forum's Smart Grid Collaboration Group.

He will be joined by keynote speakers from Telstra (ASX:TLS), NBN Co and the Philippines' Globe Telecom, as well as Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) CIO Michael Harte and Western Power OSS implementation project manager Carlos Carpio.

TM Forum is an industry group set up to advance best-practice IT standards for communications, media and cloud computing service providers.

TM Forum chairman, Keith Willetts, said the Sydney event will concentrate on emerging business models and their effect on service providers from the region.

Topics up for discussion will include new revenue streams in the smart grid and cloud markets and content service delivery framework development.

Clarity chief executive, Jon Newbery, said the company had agreed to become a sponsor because it was behind the work TM Forum was doing in Australia.

“In particular, we believe that commitment to TM Forum standards is essential to provide best practice solutions to our customers,” he said. “TM Forum plays [a key role] in driving the innovation that we at Clarity envision for our local telecommunications industry.”

PWR shares stayed flat on Tuesday at $0.032.
