In brief: NextDC's Brisbane, Melbourne facilities on track

Emergency standby generators to be installed in Brisbane following development approval

A Brisbane data centre facility scheduled for launch in May by provider NextDC (ASX:NXT) is set to go ahead with the company receiving development approval for installation of emergency standby generators.

In an ASX statement released by the company this week, NextDC confirmed customers would be able to occupy the facility, dubbed “B1”, by the end of May.

The announcement follows delays to opening sparked by floods in Queensland during January, and reprioritisation of work by energy utilities.

Construction has also begun construction on NextDC’s Melbourne-based “M1” facility, a 14,000 square metre data centre that has already attracted Harbor MSP as its anchor tenant.

Plans for additional centres in Sydney are also set to go ahead after the company announced completion of a $33.6 million funding round and an additional $5 million share purchase plan to go ahead later this month.
