IPTV company, GoConnect (ASX:GCN), has secured a deal to provide its music channel, uctv.fm, on LG's global Smart TV platform.
Under the agreement, uctv.fm will be made available through a range of LG's internet-enabled devices including Smart TV televisions.
The service will be available free to consumers and on-demand.
GoConnect chairman, Richard Li, said the channel will originally be rolled out to Australia, New Zealand and a number of Asian countries in the first phase of the LG Smart TV launch in April.
“Eventually the audience reach will extend to Europe, UK, US and China,” he said, adding that he expects the partnership to enable uctv.fm to “gain a significant international audience reach in 2011.”
He said that by the time uctv.fm debuts on LG's platforms in mid-April, there will be close to 600 shows available, as well as a number of downloadable apps developed by GoConnect.
GoConnect announced a similar deal for Sony's Bravia IPTV platform in July last year.
GoConnect and LG Electronics had a collaboration agreement already in place prior to this deal.
GCN shares increased 4.17 per cent on Monday to $0.025.
