Perth cafe launches smartphone ordering app

Perth cafe Mooba has launched an app for Apple and Android smartphones allowing customers to customise their coffee orders in advance

Perth cafe, Mooba, has launched a smartphone app allowing customers to pre-order customised coffees.

The app, available for iPhone or the Android OS, was developed in conjunction with Perth's Lateral IT Solutions.

It can be used to specify combination including size, milk, sugars and temperature, and can also be used to order food.

Manager Hannah Cameron said she believed the app was the first of its kind in Australia.

Mooba has been using SMS pre-ordering for its Subiaco and Wembley stores for four years, and Cameron says the stores process 200 orders this way per day.

The company plans to continue SMS ordering, but said the smartphone app is an easier, faster and cheaper solution.

The app will be offered on the mobile version of the Mooba website. Only orders to the Subiaco store will be accepted for the first week, with both stores going live in the next.
