The white iPhone is almost here - really

After a 10-month wait, the white iPhone is reportedly coming soon.

The elusive, anticipated white iPhone may finally arrive in the next few weeks, according to BusinessWeek .

That's right. After a whopping 10-month wait, we may finally get to see a white iPhone 4..."may" being the key word, of course. BusinessWeek cites three unnamed sources -- "people with knowledge of the plans" -- who reportedly say that the new model will be available from AT&T and Verizon Wireless by the end of April.

Apple's iPhone 4 dropped almost a year ago, but only in the black model. The white model was originally slated to be released at the same time, but was delayed because it proved to be "more challenging to manufacture than expected." According to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, the camera's flash bulb in the white iPhone leaked too much light, and the phone itself had proximity sensor issues.

Initially, the delay was only a month, and the white iPhone was expected to hit shelves in the second half of July.

But, of course, nothing ever goes as planned -- and the second half of July came and went without a white iPhone to be seen. Apple then announced that the white iPhone had been delayed again, and would be released "later in the year." "Later in the year," Apple announced the white iPhone had been delayed again , and would be released in the spring of 2011. Some began to question whether we'd ever see a white iPhone 4, and others tried to make their own white iPhones.

Anyway, if the anonymous sources at BusinessWeek are to be believed, we should be seeing a white iPhone 4 pretty soon. Pretty close to what was expected to be the iPhone 5 launch date -- except, of course, now we're hearing that that may be delayed as well.

So be on the lookout for the white iPhone, but please don't hold your breath.
