The HTC Desire S will be coming to Telstra's Next G network.

Telstra's Next G network will become a home for HTC's Desire S and Wildfire S smartphones, with the telco holding a 25 May media launch for the handsets. Both the HTC Desire S and the HTC Wildfire S run Google's Android mobile operating system.

The Desire S is the successor to the well-received HTC Desire. It has a 3.7in capacitive SLCD touchscreen with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. Under the hood it runs a 1GHz Qualcomm processor. Its specifications are similar to its predecessor's, though it has 200MB more RAM (768MB in total). It will run the Gingerbread version of Android.

Similarly, the HTC Wildfire S is very similar to the original Wildfire, which was a budget Android handset. At 600MHz its processor is slightly faster than the Wildfire's, and it has 512MB of RAM, compared to its predecessor's 384MB. Like the Desire S, it will run Gingerbread.
