Samsung's new flagship smartphone, the Android-powered Galaxy S II, will be launched in Australia on 1 June, according to Optus' pre-order Web page.
The Galaxy S II is equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen that uses Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus display technology. The phone runs an ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor, which has a clock speed of 1.2GHz.
On the rear the handset has an 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p (Full HD) video recording. There is also a lower resolution front-facing camera
The Samsung Galaxy S II runs version 2.3 of Andoird — codenamed Gingerbread. Connectivity includes up to 21 megabits per second over HSPA, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.
Optus will offer the phone on four plans including $5 per month on $59 and $0 upfront on a $79 cap.
