Conference organizers closed the exhibit floor at 2 p.m. local time at the Networld+Interop convention in Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center on Tuesday, in reaction to the apparent terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Keynote addresses scheduled for Tuesday have also been canceled. Organizers from Key3Media Group Inc. said that the show will resume activities as scheduled on Wednesday.
The destruction of the World Trade Center in New York and the apparent terrorist attacks on the U.S. government targets prompted transportation officials to close airports around the country. The closures could strand convention attendees in Atlanta and make travel here for the remaining two days of the convention difficult.
Daniel Warmenhoven, chief executive officer of Network Appliance Inc., Darin Richins, Novell Inc.'s vice president of corporate marketing and Eric Schmidt, chairman of Novell's board of directors, were scheduled to give keynote addresses Tuesday.
