Microsoft has revealed the latest update to its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system. According to Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 blog, its 'Mango' update to WP7 offers "hundreds of new features and improvements".
Messaging has been revamped, with the OS now offering 'Threads': Threaded display of conversations between you and a contact over multiple platforms, including SMS, Facebook chat and Microsoft's Windows Live Messenger instant messaging service. Another new feature is the ability to collect contacts into a 'Group' and display their updates on one of the home screen's tiles.
Other new communications features focus on social networking, including integration of a contact's Twitter and LinkedIn feeds, as well as face detection for tagging photos.
The update also includes Internet Explorer 9, Bing searching with voice recognition, multitasking and improvements to the Live Tiles system used by WP7.
The Windows Phone 7 update will be rolled out in Australia sometime in spring this year.
