Optus has announced it is now offering the Motorola Xoom Android ‘Honeycomb’ tablet little more than a month after Telstra launched the device in Australia.
The Motorola Xoom is available for $499 upfront on a $39.95 data cap plus 12-month plan, including 8GB of data per month (minimum cost $978.40).
Plans range from $29.95 to $59.95 per month with device repayments from $20 to $0 per month. See image for details.
Back in early May Telstra launched the Xoom tablet and Atrix smartphone with Motorola. The Xoom is regarded as one of the foremost challengers to Apple’s venerable iPad tablet.
The Motorola Xoom was the first device to run on the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system and features a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch 1280x800 widescreen HD display, HDMI out and two cameras – a five-megapixel rear-facing camera and a two-megapixel front-facing camera.
Retailers have also started selling the Xoom outright for around the $850 mark.
