NBN Co chief executive, Mike Quigley, has responded to media reports this week that the telco's network was compromised.
Quigley said the company was not hacked nor placed at risk, following the alleged attack on its retail customer Platform Networks by a 25-year-old man who went by the screen name ‘Evil’.
"The incident yesterday related to a commercial customer [Platform Networks] of NBN Co that has not yet connected services over the National Broadband Network,” he said.
“Of course we take security seriously. We have controls and processes in place and are working with telcos, internet service providers, and the broader industry in security scenario planning.”
He added that any suggestion the NBN Co could have been hacked was “entirely wrong” and that the allegations were a case of “misleading reporting”.
