Open Text has purchased Operitel, maker of learning and portal software that is integrated with Microsoft SharePoint, the companies announced Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Operitel's e-learning capabilities will improve OpenText's array of content management software, OpenText CEO John Shackleton said in a statement. OpenText also sells BPM (business process management) and archiving applications aimed at SharePoint, which is a ubiquitous presence in corporate Intranets.
Operitel's software relies on Microsoft's .NET development stack and targets a number of verticals, including financial services firms, government, manufacturing, retail and telcos.
Its flagship product is LearnFlex, a system that "registers, tracks, manages and reports on all aspects of training and professional development in an organization," according to its website. The software also has mobile capabilities.
The deal is just the latest acquisition for OpenText, which purchased mobile application development company weComm and BPM vendor Metastorm earlier this year.
