The LG Optimus Spirit, Telstra launched this week, has made the Christmas wish list as Telstra announced it would be popular among pre-paid customers wanting to switch to a more Web-friendly mobile.

Director of Telstra Mobile, Andrew Volard, said in a statement, the smartphone is “tailored especially for what our younger customers want” as it features LG Social+, access to a range of apps via the Android Market and numerous entertainment options.

The smartphone runs Android 2.3 and comes with Telstra’s Blue Tick which will provide good coverage in rural and regional areas.

Other attractions include its large 1500mAh battery, 800 MHz processor, up to 32GB of expandable memory via a MicroSD card, 3.2-inch HVGA screen, DNLA sharing, 3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi Hotspot.

General manager of Mobile Communications at LG Electronics Australia, Thomas Lewis, added the Android powered smartphone will bring more competition to the market.

“When coupled with the reach of the Telstra network and their fantastic offer it will stand out in a competitive market,” Lewis said in a statement.
