Australia’s number two telco, Optus, has launched a range of internet plans over the National Broadband Network’s (NBN) first five mainland release sites targeting small businesses.
The telco describes the plans as “ideal for offices with up to five employees” with the option of a business data plan or bundled data and phone plans.
The plans start at $59 for 100GB of data per month over a 12- or 24-month period, up to $119 for 1TB of data per month.
Bundled plans start at $99 for 24 months with 120GB of data and unlimited standard national calls to fixed landlines and Optus mobiles, ranging up to $129 for 1TB of data and unlimited standard calls to fixed lines and mobiles within Australia.
The plans have standard base speeds of 25 megabits per second downlink and 5Mbps uplink. Customers can purchase 'speeds packs' to access increased data throughput, with 25Mbps/10Mbps, 50Mbps/20Mbps and 100Mbps/40Mbps costing an extra $5, $10 and $20 per month.
The SMB plans also come with a single user licence for OfficeApps Email and Collaboration Suite, webSMS and a new business domain name.
“Optus NBN packages have been designed to offer great flexibility and value and make it easier for small businesses,” Optus SMB managing director, Rohan Ganeson said in statement. “We’ve also combined OfficeApps with our NBN offerings for the first time.” “When you consider that 48 per cent of Australian SMBs don’t have a website and only 4 per cent are using Cloud solutions… there is a huge opportunity for small businesses to embrace digital technologies,” he said.
“This is the first of many NBN packages Optus will offer,” he said. “As the roll-out progresses, we’ll expand our NBN packages to cater for larger offices and add more Optus OfficeApps inclusions.”
All 12-month plans incur a $79 installation fee and $19.95 modem delivery cost, while 24-month plans include free installation with no cost for delivery.
The telco released its consumer NBN plans in November, which start at $39.99 a month for Optus postpaid mobile customers.
