Australian fibre wholesaler, Pipe Networks, suffered an unexpected outage at its Brisbane-based DC1 and DC2 data centres in the early hours of this morning due to power and air conditioning issues.
A spokesperson for Pipe Networks told Computerworld Australia that the specific time of the outage had not been identified but that it occurred “roughly” between midnight and 2am, affecting PipeEthernet, PipeIP and PipeIX services.
The Creek Street location lost mains power supply on level nine at both DC1 and DC2 upon which all equipment was transferred to uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to prevent any damage to systems.
Power was down on the UPS system for around 30 minutes and has now been fully restored.
According to the spokesperson, contractors were called in immediately to rectify issues with the power and the air conditioning, both of which have been resolved.
The spokesperson did not comment on whether the issues had been caused by storm factors, but said investigations were underway to understand exactly what had caused the issues.
The spokespeson also said Pipe’s network was not affected.
