ACMA issues warning to Lycamobile

ACMA has found Lycamobile failed to comply with the integrated public number database

Lycamobile has been issued a formal warning from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) for breaching the Telecommunications Act.

The ACMA found that the pay-as-you-go telco failed to provide accurate customer records to the integrated public number database (IPND) manager, which contains listed and unlisted public phone numbers which emergency services use for emergency calls and law enforcement.

The ACMA stated non-compliance with the database is a “serious issue” and information should be as up-to-date as possible.

Lycamobile has since provided the ACMA with details of improvements it has made to more accurately capture customer information.

The ACMA regularly carries out audits of the IPND to ensure companies are complying with the database.
