Optus Business to debut new Cloud, mobility services

Optus Business has announced several new Cloud and mobility services, including Cloud storage offering and mobile security suite.

Optus Business has revealed plans to expand its portfolio of Cloud computing and enterprise mobility offerings.

The company will launch a new enterprise Cloud storage and backup service through its virtual private data centre, which will be rebranded from Optus Elevate to Optus PowerON Compute.

Optus will also add new pay-as-you-go pricing models to its existing fixed price per slice and storage per gigabyte choices.

Optus Business recently became part of SingTel Group ICT, a new division combining all of parent company SingTel's (ASX:SGT) enterprise business units. Optus said it will leverage the support of the new group to offer Cloud consulting services to its customers.

The company will assess businesses' readiness to move to the Cloud, and provide guidance on business strategy, choosing applications for the Cloud and updating security and governance policies.

Optus and SingTel also plan to expand PowerON Compute into the Asia-Pacific region. The companies already share a common Cloud platform, and have tested the ability to move virtual workloads between their respective Clouds in Australia and Singapore.

Optus' Cloud data centre facilities are ISO27001 certified, and its Cloud offerings have received VMware vCloud Datacenter accreditation.

Optus Business separately announced the launch of a new mobile security solution, mobility consulting service and online mobile app portal.

The new mobile security service, Optus Mobile Device Security, aims to enable IT managers to protect employees' devices against malware and malicious applications. It is based on vendor Juniper Networks' Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite.

The company will also offer mobility consulting services, aimed at advising business how best to optimise their presence on the mobile web, including providing recommendations on content strategies and technology requirements.

Optus also launched the Optus Business Mobile Apps Portal. The company hopes that app developers will use the portal as a forum to share ideas and knowledge and discuss best practice

SGT shares grew 0.4% in Thursday's ASX trading to $2.510.
