Telstra IaaS platform gets ISO certification

Telstra's full infrastructure-as-a-service Cloud platform has been classified as compliant with ISO information security standards

Telstra's (ASX:TLS) full infrastructure-as-a-service platform has been classified as compliant with the ISO27001 international standard for information security management.

The services newly receiving accreditation include the operator's utility and dedicated Cloud computing platforms and its backup and recovery service.

Telstra's data storage services have already been certified as compliant with the international standards.

Telstra general manager of Cloud computing Mark Pratley said, the new accreditations were granted after an “strict independent audit of our infrastructure and security practices.”

He said security was a top priority for Australian business looking into adopting Cloud computing services.

“A recent Telstra survey of 700 large organisations had two thirds indicate they are looking to significantly invest in Cloud computing this year, and more than 80% of all organisations rated security as very important,” Pratley said.

Telstra has allocated $800 million for Cloud investments over the next few years. The company operates infrastructure-as-a-service sites in Sydney and Melbourne.

TLS shares fell 0.84% on Thursday to $3.530.
