MyNetFone to provide NBN services

Another telco has been certified to provide the NBN to consumers and businesses

MyNetFone has been certified by NBN Co to provide National Broadband Network (NBN) services.

MyNetFone will provide the NBN from late June this year to households and business and wholesale customers through Symbio Networks, which it acquired in February this year.

Prices with MyFoneNet will start from $39.95 per month for a 20GB plan at 12Mbps download speed and up to $99.95 for 1TB plans at the NBN’s top speed of 100Mbps download speed.

MyNetFone also plans to bundle its VoIP services with the NBN plans.

“The NBN levels the playing field considerably in terms of our ability to compete with the large incumbents,” Rene Sugo, MyNetFone CEO, said in a statement.

“We will see a heightened level of competition in the market for broadband and voice services that will provide customers with more choice than they’ve ever had before.”

Symbio will provide NBN services to wholesale customers in New South Wales in June this year and will work on a trial basis with some customers. Following the trial in New South Wales, Symbio will establish points of interconnect (POI) in Tasmania. It will then continue to roll out permanent POI.

“[The] NBN really completes the picture, we have been successfully offering next-generation hosted voice for 10 years but always held back by the lack of guaranteed bandwidth,” Jon Cleaver, Symbio’s general manager of sales, said in a statement.

“From our perspective, the key benefit of [the] NBN is not necessarily the much-hyped super high speeds, but the ability to deliver a reliable, guaranteed speed to everyone. We anticipate this will significantly improve the user experience of the IP services and lead to an unprecedented increase in the rate of IP communications take-up.”
