Telstra-SAP alliance offers business management on the cloud

Organisations can migrate existing SAP services to Telstra or build them into a managed private cloud.

Enterprise and government customers will have access to SAP’s business management products on the cloud through an alliance signed by Telstra and SAP. Accenture will help deliver the products.

Under the agreement, Telstra will provide SAP licensing, network, compute and storage infrastructure, while Accenture will manage system integration, migration, SAP application maintenance and help desk services.

Enterprises and government agencies will be able to migrate existing on-premise SAP services to Telstra or build new SAP systems into a managed private cloud, Telstra said. The system also includes mobile and analytics functions, it said. The Telstra network meets government security standards including ISO27001 accreditation, it added.

The partnership is part of Telstra’s $800 million investment in the cloud, the company said.

SAP certified Telstra’s cloud infrastructure in September last year, enabling organisations to run SAP applications on Telstra’s cloud. This week’s announcement “extends this choice and expands and enhances capability open to Telstra customers,” Telstra said.

“Both Telstra and Accenture will continue to innovate and develop more hosted SAP solutions that will significantly reduce the cost of ownership and a new way to deliver business applications,” said Telstra enterprise & government general manager of cloud services, Mark Pratley.
