Some of the leading tech companies administer some of the hardest job interviews, according to research published today by Glassdoor.
Notoriously difficult by reputation, Google has broken into the top 10 on this list, landing at the No. 9 spot. Unisys came in at 10, Rackspace Hosting at 11, Juniper Networks at 18, Facebook at 24 and Amazon.com at 25.

Glassdoor, which conducts studies related to the job market, used nearly 80,000 interview experiences rating reviews to compile the list. While tech firms had a strong presence on the list, consultancies have an even tougher interview process. McKinsey & Company took the top honors for the second year in a row while Boston Consulting Group and Oliver Wyman rounding out the top three.
Despite having the hardest interview process in the tech world, once employees get to Google they seem happy. The same survey found that Google has one of the highest employee satisfactions. Facebook has the highest employee satisfaction of any company that made the top 25, though.
But during the interview process at Google, things don't go as smoothly for the interviewee. Only 45% of respondents said they had a positive interview experience at Google, with 18% reporting it was negative. Rackspace, Unisys and Juniper each had more than 65% positive experience ratings for the interviews.
What questions should you be prepared to answer during a tech interview?
"What is the marginal cost of a gigabyte in Gmail?" one Google associate product manager reported being asked in an interview. Another said, "All were puzzle type questions ... many books can help prepare you for this kind of thing. Don't have a specific one in mind. I would not say that they were trick questions in any way; more algorithm-based."
