Reliable infrastructure was selected over energy consumption as the top priority for two-thirds of the 96 Australian and New Zealand data centre managers recently surveyed by industrial manufacturer, Eaton.
The survey data was collected during July and August this year in Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne and Auckland at the VMware Symposium.

Some 44 per cent of respondents said they were challenged in trying to find tailored offerings to adequately monitor their infrastructure while 14 per cent cited the need to maintain mission critical uptime.
This compared with only 11 per cent of respondents selecting efficiency as a priority in their data centre infrastructure while 6 per cent of data centre managers chose scalability as a top priority.
In addition, the survey also found that 45 per cent of data centre managers monitored or tracked energy consumption and the overall efficiency of their data centre with 22 per cent claiming it was not important.
