Environment Department to build ICT service providers panel

Request for tender closes 25 March.

The government seeks to establish an enterprise ICT panel of service providers at the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

The panel will be a non-exclusive arrangement under which the department may procure ICT goods and services, according to a request for tenders document released last week. The goods and services include business analysis, Web and software design and development, networking and telecommunications, and testing, maintenance and support.

“The department may conduct competitive processes to seek quotations from one or more panel members to meet a specific requirement.”

However, under the proposed arrangement, the department may still procure ICT goods and services outside of the panel.

“The department currently operates a largely virtual network based upon Microsoft’s application virtualization software ‘AppV’,” the department said.

“Primarily, the department’s core systems are based on Microsoft’s applications including Active Directory (AD) for authentication and group policy, SharePoint for information management and record keeping and Microsoft Dynamics for customer relationship management. In addition to these, the department utilises SAP for financial and human resource management and primarily Esri ArcGIS for geospatial information.

“The provision of goods/services under the panel arrangement is required to comply with the department’s IT architecture and may be subject to internal processes, procedures and approvals."

The tender submission period closes 25 March but the department said it will continue to accept submissions for 120 days afterward.
