Vodafone Hutchison Australia plans to triple its 3G coverage in regional areas in July when it turns on 1200 new network sites across Australia.
“Vodafone customers living in or visiting regional areas will notice much improved mobile coverage from July, as will those who are travelling for work or heading off on holidays,” said CEO Bill Morrow in a statement. “This will include a much better network experience on major roads and highways.”
The expansion will follow the launch of the telco’s 4G network in June.
Vodafone has poured more than $1 billion dollars into its network over the past few years in an attempt to reverse a customer exodus. The embattled telco is also facing a class action lawsuit] from customers protesting network problems.
“Our customers have been very clear what they want from us,” said Morrow. “They want a reliable network experience where they live, work and holiday.”
