Motorola has already begun advertising its upcoming Moto X smartphone

Motorola has already begun advertising its upcoming Moto X smartphone, before the device has officially been launched.

US Web site The Verge is reporting that the company has produced an advertisement for the upcoming smartphone that will run in major US publications The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.

The ad describes the Moto X as "the first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the USA".

Motorola also claims the device will be "the first smartphone that you can design yourself."

"The first smartphone that you can design yourself. Because today you should have the freedom to design the things in your life to be as unique as you are," reads the advertisement.

"And this is just the beginning. Imagine what will be possible when you have the world's best design engineering and manufacturing talent located here in the USA."

There's no further details on what Motorola means by designing the smartphone, though most suggestions believe the reference is related to exterior customisations.
