Listed e-commerce solutions developer eGlobal International has won a contract to supply software, smart cards, printers and readers that will be used to integrate smart card facilities into a medical insurance system being developed for the General Social Insurance Company of Shenyang in China. The $A17 million deal calls for the supply of at least 2.6 million smart cards and is part of a national scheme being established following a Central Government directive to provincial and city governments, an eGlobal spokesman explained.
To complete the system eGlobal has entered a technical services agreement with the insurance company, Schlumberger and Neu-Alpine, which is a Chinese software development company. The spokesman said eGlobal expects that additional projects will follow the successful implementation of the Shenyang contract.
Earlier in the week a change of ownership of eGlobal occurred when Coms21 concluded its takeover of the company and changed its name to eGlobal International. The spokesman explained that the company's business now extends from smart card solutions to the operational areas of electronic business and SAP implementation services.
