ERG does it again with French contracts

Listed smart card specialist ERG has lifted to 30 the number of contracts it has won in France in the past 18 months after picking up two further ticketing contracts worth more than $A2.5 million.

One contract is for the bus system of the Belfort district in the north-east of France where ERG will install a complete contactless smart card system that includes driver consoles and validators, card encoding devices, POS equipment and back office software. The system will replace multiple-trip tickets, although paper tickets will still be used for single trips.

The second contract is for the Henin-Carvin district, which encompasses 14 towns in the north of France, where ERG will install a combined magnetic ticket/contactless smart card system for the bus company. The system, which is to be operational by the end of this year, will be interoperable with a system ERG installed for a neighbouring district -- Lens-Lievin -- last September, and will allow passengers to travel throughout the entire region on a single card.
