Harry Child squeezed out in Epicor restructure

An organisational change to Epicor Software Australia and New Zealand has led to the departure of former managing director Harry Child whose position no longer exists. Observers close to the action have told The Rust Report they are stunned by the move after Child's sterling performance with Epicor, and the company's official line is that he has left "to pursue other interests".

The reason for Child's departure was the promotion of Craig Stephens to director of operations for Australia and New Zealand, and of Jason du Preez to sales and marketing director for Australia and NZ. Stephens, who has been with Epicor for five years, was previously director of services, while du Preez has been with the company in Australia and the UK for six years.

One of du Preez's first tasks in his new role was to close Epicor's sales office in Auckland and to allow the Kiwi market to be served by VARs Datacom and Eagle Technology. "We had been supporting the New Zealand channel locally and determined that the operations are in excellent shape for our solutions suite to be handled solely by them," du Preez claimed.
