NSW Police is asking the public for their feedback for an online app that will allow the community to report “lesser” crimes.
The proposed portal would allow the public to use their computer or mobile device to report low level non-life threatening crimes as an alternative to calling or visiting police.
Users of the portal will need to create an account on the app, which then allows them to communicate with NSW Police. It will also allow users to track what stage their report is at.
“At this stage of the project’s development it is crucial that the public have their say,” Superintendent Keith Willott, NSW Police Force policing program director, said in a statement.
“With this in mind, we have set up the NSW Police Force Community Portal Survey.”
Willott said feedback from the survey would be used to help develop the crime reporting app before it is publicly released.
“We are encouraging members of the community to provide their details in the survey so that we can involve them with the ideas that may be submitted,” he said.
