Downer EDI scores another NBN contract

Deal covers around 300,000 premises

Downer EDI has picked up another two-year contract for the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout in Brisbane and Melbourne.

The contract covers around 300,000 premises in both cities for the design and construct of the fibre network from fibre access nodes to the doorstep of each premise.

Downer EDI is also responsible for rolling out the NBN in northern New South Wales in a $94 million contract and connecting multi-dwelling units to the network in New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory, in a deal worth up to $66 million.

Downer EDI reported on Tuesday that its net profit after tax increased by 10.3 per cent to $215.4 million for the 2013 financial year.
