Optus fibre cable break disrupts services

Optus said its technicians are on their way to investigate what caused the break and to repair the cable

A fibre cable break between Optus’ exchange in Belrose and Epping Road has disrupted residential services in the areas.

Customers in Ryde and Epping have been experiencing patchy voice and broadband services as a result of the fibre break.

Optus said its technicians are on their way to investigate what caused the break and to repair the cable, with no ETR from Optus yet.

“Some pre-paid customers may experience issues with balance enquiries and Optus Zoo transactions,” the telco said in a statement.

“Optus apologises for any inconvenience this has caused.”

In April this year Optus business customers experienced an outage following hardware issues at the telco's exchange in Ultimo.
