Bank of Queensland recovers from card network outage

Point of sale services went down overnight

The Bank of Queensland (BOQ) has confirmed that its card network experienced an outage overnight which affected merchant facilities.

Customers experienced intermittent issues when trying to use BOQ point of sale terminals and some non-BOQ and Redi automatic teller machines from 4:30PM AEST yesterday through to this morning.

A BOQ spokesman told Computerworld Australia that the outage was due to technical issues experienced by a supplier. However, BOQ branded ATMs and Internet banking services were not affected.

The bank tweeted this morning that its card network was working again.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. For further assistance call 1300 55 72 72,” read the message.

In early August, Westpac experienced issues with its online and mobile banking services which lasted two days.

Customers were asked to visit branches or use ATM and EFTPOS services.
