Twenty-seven telcos and retailers, including Telstra and Optus, have signed up to NBN Co’s new wholesale broadband agreement (WBA) after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission accepted the Special Access Undertaking (SAU) in 13 December 2013.
The WBA sets out the contracts for NBN Co to supply products and services to its wholesale customers for the next two years.
According to NBN Co documents, some of the changes made by industry to the WBA were to introduce product support for higher traffic class 4 tiers, to introduce a ‘Migration Offer Credit’ that offers customers a credit to maximise speed and volume take up of the NBN, and to inform customers that a modify order resulting in a move between existing AVC speed tier and new higher AVC speed tier will result in a brief service interruption.
“The new WBA was achieved after two years of engagement with industry to develop terms of supply of NBN Co fibre-to-the-premises and wireless based services, and follows the ACCC’s acceptance of NBN Co’s Special Access Undertaking,” said Caroline Lovell, NBN Co’s head of Regulatory Affairs and Industry Analysis.
The new WBA will be fully operational from 1 March.
