SDN startup Anuta Networks has unveiled its second product, a network services virtualization systems for midsize and large enterprises.

The Anuta NCX system is a software VM or x86 appliance-based controller and agents that interact via an array of protocols and APIs including OpenFlow to automate the provisioning and orchestration of Layer 2-7 networking services across existing infrastructures. The controller includes a self-service portal and can integrate with existing management and orchestration portals through RESTful APIs.

The agents are geographically dispersed onto or close to the network elements. In addition to OpenFlow, the agent/controller interaction can be through XMPP, NETCONF and various other existing APIs and protocols.

The controller supports VMware, Microsoft and Citrix hypervisors.

The University of British Columbia in Canada is using Anuta's NCX Enterprise to support Layer 2-7 network service allocation to over 75,000 users. Service provisioning takes minutes through the self-service portal, Anuta claims.

Anuta NCX Enterprise is available now and licensed based on per VM or per device depending on deployment model. Base pricing starts at US$50,000.
