Optus Business has signed a $30 million, five-year contract with UGL for mobility and managed ICT services that will support the engineering and property services company’s expansion into Asia.

Under the contract, Optus will provide smartphones and mobile services to 8000 UGL employees across Australia and Asia. That will include applications providing real-time access to UGL’s ERP, CRM and workflow systems, it said.

In addition, the managed data and ICT services included in the deal will see UGL hand over monitoring, maintenance and management of ICT to Optus.

UGL said it chose Optus after a competitive tender process in part for its presence in Asia—Optus is a subsidiary of the SingTel group.

“Positioning UGL to benefit from ongoing growth in Asia is a key strategic priority for our business and we required an ICT partner who could support our regional needs,” UGL CEO Richard Leupen said in a statement.

“Optus Business is the best placed regional ICT partner through the SingTel group and has a shared commitment to continual investment in innovation and growth.”
