NBN Co continues telco poaching streak

Vodafone’s corporate affairs chief to join NBN Co

NBN Co has poached Karina Keisler from Vodafone to head up corporate affairs for the government-owned corporation charged with rolling out the National Broadband Network.

Keisler is currently general manager, corporate affairs at Vodafone Hutchison Australia. She will join NBN Co on 2 June as executive general manager, corporate affairs. Prior to her Vodafone stint, which began in 2012, Keisler worked for Telstra.

NBN Co’s chief executive, Bill Morrow, is the former CEO of Vodafone. Morrow began his tenure at NBN Co earlier this year.

Since Morrow joined the organisation it has also snaffled Vodafone's chief strategy and business transformation officer, Bradley Whitcomb.

Whitcomb joined NBN Co in May as chief culture and transformation officer.

"It's essential as we enter the next phase of the NBN rollout that there is transparency around the decisions and direction in which the rollout will proceed,” Morrow said in a statement.

“I am confident Karina will help move NBN forward.”

A wholesale change in leadership has taken place at NBN Co since the Coalition won the federal election, beginning with the installation of new-look board headed by former Telstra chief executive Ziggy Switkowski.

One of Switkowski's first actions was to hire former Telstra exec JB Rousselot as head of strategy and transformation at NBN Co, leading the review into the organisation's operations and the rollout of the National Broadband Network.

In November last year Switkowski poached Telstra executive Greg Adcock for NBN Co's COO role.

In April Morrow revealed that CFO Robin Payne, CTO Gary McLaren, and Kevin Brown, who is responsible for the government-owned company's agreements with Telstra and Optus, were all departing NBN Co.
