Telstra finalises joint venture with Telkom Indonesia

Joint venture with Indonesian telco to offer cloud services from 2015

Telstra has signed a joint venture agreement with Telkom Indonesia. The joint venture will offer cloud, unified communications, managed network and security services in Indonesia.

"The JV is an important step in Telstra’s Asia strategy and aligns with our aim to build new growth businesses that leverage the strengths of our unique NAS capabilities," Telstra group executive, global enterprise and services, Brendon Riley, said in a statement.

"The JV will offer an integrated end to end service, unique in the Indonesian market, by enabling NAS to be bundled with Telkom's connectivity and sold through Telkom Indonesia and Telstra’s enterprise sales," Riley said

Telstra and Telkom Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding in January.

Telstra CEO David Thodey last year reshuffled the telco's senior leadership and announced an increased focus on expansion in Asia.

The new joint venture will be headed by Phill Sporton, formerly Telstra executive director, customer service delivery.

"We believe the JV NAS will grow significantly not only because of the partnership with Telstra, but also considering Telkom’s capabilities in network and data centre, as well as Telkom's strong position in the enterprise market segment which is the target market of NAS," said Telkom CEO Arief Yahya said.

A statement from Telstra said that the joint venture is aiming to offer services from next year.
