The University of Queensland (UQ) has issued a request for the provision of network Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation services at its St Lucia campus in Brisbane.
According to tender documents, UQ is seeking a DDoS mitigation service which will filter and scrub high volume malicious traffic directed at its network. The solution will need to mitigate attacks against everything from one UQ IP address up to the entire set of network address blocks.
The service will also need to recognise and let safe traffic on to the network. It should be implemented by 2 November, 2014.
“The University has a 10 Gigabits per second and 1Gb/s backup Internet link provided by the Australian Academic and Research Network [AARNet] to the St Lucia campus, along with 10Gb/s connectivity to a number of domestic peering exchanges,” read the documents.
Responses to the tender should include:
- An overview of the company and details of the DDoS service offering
- Reference customers for the DDoS service
- Network, capacity and locations where the service being delivered will operate
- DDoS service pricing and contract term
- Associated service level agreement (SLA)
- A Government Information Technology Contracting (GITC) agreement or a draft non-GITC agreement
The deadline for replies is 24 September.
UQ is also looking to engage security consultants to assess the state of identity management (IdM) at the university.
